Like all of the company's videos, this one for Stratford's Mary Stuart is gorgeous. But, more: in it you see why this show is one of the season's biggest hits - with several additional performances added - despite the work's darkness. When artistic director Antoni Cimolino rolled the dice and included it in the lineup (and then directed it himself) no one thought it would be a sure bet. But the bet was well-hedged with the production's two lead actors: Seanna McKenna as Elizabeth and (seen here) Lucy Peacock as Mary. Simply: watch the electricity in full evidence here.
